Rivages propres Côte d’Opale is a social inclusion non-profit organisation, its main objective is social and professional inclusion for people who have been unemployed for a long time. The employees have the choice to work in one of the three main activities developed by the organisation: heritage building restoration, environment improvement (beaches, footpath…) or cycling and alternative awareness: the cycléco project.
People employed there get an employment contract but also a training course to develop specific skills such as sport management, contact with the customers, repairing the bikes, etc.
When they leave the association, they have gotten an experience and a diploma and can find a job more easily.
Since July 2013, they opened a bike and ebike rental office at the centre of Boulogne sur mer, just next to a new cycle track along the river Liane. The activity has been really successful with over 4000 bikes rented since they opened. The customers are tourists who want to discover the area but also local people who want to try an ebike for the first time. Cycléco has also developed awareness workshops such as:
- Workshops with young people during the summer, in partnership with local schools...
- Participation on festive days such as the sport day, the mobility day, the energy road...
